You Should Totally Do a Theme Party!
Have you ever been to a direct sales party that bored you to tears? Like you can’t wait to get out of there so you text your husband to call you with some excuse that you have to leave right away, like right now, the fate of mankind depends on you getting out of there alive before you are completely bored to death. I’ve been to these, and no offense at all to the consultant, but it is part of our job as consultants to ensure that our party guests are having FUN! They’re called a PARTY for goodness sakes! It’s not a party if you’re not having fun; it’s a lecture or a demo. BORING. So what do we do to ensure that the fork stays in the cake and not used to self inflict an exit strategy? Theme party!
Theme Parties are FUN!
A theme party not only sets the stage for fun at your parties, they give your guests an added reason to come, and they make planning super simple for your host. If the theme is Taco Tuesday then Holly Host knows that all she needs to do is brown some taco meat and have the fixings ready, maybe a margarita on the side. Gina Guest knows she doesn’t have to eat before she comes, the family can fend for themselves for a night! Woo hoo!
The following theme ideas are intended to help you as a consultant to ensure the guests are having fun and not contemplating stabbing themselves in the eye just to get out of there!
There is really a limitless number of theme party ideas that can be used to make direct sales home parties more fun and therefore more engaging for the party guests. All it takes is an idea and your host can quite literally “run with it” – this host tells all her guests to wear jogging pants and sneakers with prizes for the best leg warmers. Maybe she even sends out a text invitation followed with a youtube link to Eye of the Tiger or We Are The Champions. For snacks perhaps she serves healthier snack options and the first person to arrive is the “race winner” and gets extra raffle tickets into a door prize drawing.
Day Themes
Day of the week themes are pretty simple and putting the day of the week into your theme also helps to serve as a reminder for your party guests, “I can’t work late on Wine Down Wednesday!”
- Margarita Monday, Martini Monday,
- Taco Tuesday, Tropical Tuesday
- Wacky Wednesday, Wine Down Wednesday, Hump Day Happy Hour
- Throwback Thursday (#TBT), Thirsty Thursday, Thursday Tailgate (during football season)
- Flashback Friday, TGIF, Fifties Friday
- Saturday (I don’t work Saturdays, so sorry no help here)
- Sunday Sundaes, Sunday Funday
Seasonal and Holiday Themes
Seasonal and Holiday themes can be a ton of fun and are also really simple. Just pick a holiday or season and you can easily come up with a theme to go with!

Food & Drink Based Theme Parties
Food and drink based theme parties are the easiest for the host as their menu is already planned and their guests clearly know what to expect. “Hey Susie, I’m having a Pizza Party Friday night and want you to come. My Norwex lady is going to show us how amazing Norwex is while we’re chowing down! I love Norwex, can you come?”
- Pizza Party
- Burgers & Beer
- Chili Party
- Wine & Cheese
- Chocolate Extravaganza
- Mimosa’s & Microfiber

What’s your next theme party going to be? Don’t be afraid to try some of these ideas, theme parties make it more fun for your host and for her guests. When guests are having fun, they’re more apt to want to have their own party! Have more ideas? Add them to the comments!
